Creative Arts for Workplace Wellness

A healthy working environment is one in which there is not only an absence of harmful conditions but an abundance of health-promoting ones.

~World Health Organization

The World Health Organization calls stress “the health epidemic of the 21st century,” with 66% of American workers claiming stress negatively effects job performance. Thirty percent of disability claims stem from behavioral health complaints, with stress-related loss of production costing US business close to $300 billion a year. A recent Monster poll found that an alarming 42% of those who left jobs, did so due to what they perceived as stressful work environments.

I’m getting stressed just collecting the data!

Employees recognize the need for help managing stress, and while wellness in the workplace has gained significant traction in recent years, as a mental health professional, I found it surprising that physical health all but eclipses mental and relational health when it comes to time and dollars spent. Considering the scientific fact that many significant physical ailments find roots in unattended psychosocial complaints such as stress, ReimagineArt Mobile Art Studio seizes a keen opportunity to improve mental, emotional, physical, and relational well-being by bringing the beneficial properties of the creative arts into the hands of employees and onto the walls of the workplace.

This is not ‘art therapy,’ per se, however hands-on creative art expression, especially when done in community and introduced into the workplace, boasts robust links to improved psychosocial health, which translates into decreased stress, healthier and happier employees, higher retention rates, and increased productivity.

Obviously enthusiastic about the possibilities, I welcome the opportunity to discuss how ReimagineArt can partner with your company to enliven employees, build rapport among co-workers, develop team, celebrate occasions, and enhance workplaces and spaces.
